2023 = 60 Years Of the MGB - 30 Years of CCHL
London’s MG Advanced Design Studio has collaborated with British artist Johnny Ambrose to create an art sculpture titled Spirit Reborn, which not only marks the advanced design studio’s fourth anniversary but also celebrates six decades of the legendary MGB.
The Spirit Reborn is made up of two design aspects that represent both MG’s past and future and is designed to mimic the transformation of the 1960s into the digital age of the 21st century. With this sculpture, the artist wanted to reflect the interpretation of the brand, speaking of “inheriting classic values and looking to the future”.
On its spirit side, versions of the classic MGBs from the sixties are reproduced in full, maintaining its proportions but emphasizing key design elements such as the round headlights and bodywork. The Reborn side, meanwhile, uses a more abstract fluid and uses similar expressions from the frame area to give it a moody look and provide a futuristic feel.
The triangular cross-sectional structure is intended to reflect the concept of “digitalization”.
Structurally, the work is made of strips of Richlite containing carbon fiber and oak, an innovative and eco-friendly composition made of compressed paper and resin, which can be cut and processed in a variety of ways. This recyclable material is part of MG’s sustainable vision.
The team at https://www.cchl.co.uk/ are not sure about this new innovation, what do you think?
